Slovakia - A walk on the wild side
Saturday morning - yaaaay! - who doesn't love a weekend? We started off towards Koliba Park to visit the Kamzik TV tower. We parked on the edge of the forest and walked uphill through the canopy. It was lovely to be back under the trees; towns make me feel enclosed, claustrophobic even, I can manage a few days without nature but then I start grinding my teeth and am chomping at the bit to get back to the countryside. It was glorious in the forest; the birds were singing and I nearly trod on a snake (which was a little bit disconcerting to say the least).

I saw some amazing fungi growing on a tree.

But the best was yet to come. The students went on ahead and I was lucky enough to stumble across two deer who were wandering through the forest. I stopped dead in my tracks and managed to take a photo of them. It was a really special moment that I wouldn't have had with a gang of teenagers trailling along.

I arrived at the tower and we went up in the lift. Be warned, it is just a tower with a lift. Nothing more.

The view is amazing; you can see Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary on a clear day but there is a real lack of information at the top of the tower.

There is a picture highlighting the tall buildings on the horizon and a QR code for their restaurant, but that is it. In addition, they charge an extortionate 7€ each person to go up (and down) in the lift. I my opinion, it is a clear case of daylight robbery and I felt completely ripped off. I mean it's not exactly the Eiffel Tower is it?
We the headed into Bratislava to visit the castle. It was interesting but nothing really to write home about.

We finshed our day with dinner at the Primavera restaurant and the
returned to the lycée.
