Slovakia - Much ado about nothing
Today I accompanied the three students who are on their internship at the school fish farm. There has been a severe lack of input into their internship and they have done little in the way of fish farming and learning new skills and practices. Today was not dissimilar. We arrived at the fishfarm and when I enquired what the work was for the day, I was told "there is no work today". The students then proceeded to spend the morning at the lake fishing.
I was also a little disconcerted when arriving at the farm to be shown a room with a bed and told that I could have a sleep!
Yes, I look tired but I have been feeling extremely stressed about the trip what with the insane waste of time and the whole attitude of the "Maitre du Stage" who has not made any real effort to ensure that our student's time here is fruitful.
After lunch I walked into town, mainly to get away from the lycèe but I have been trying to complete 10,000 steps a
day as there has to be more to life than watching bored kids fishing.
I feel that the three students have been extremely disrespected and as their only tasks to date have been to feed the fish and to have a workshop on electric fishing, that they have been severely let down and have missed out on what could have been a golden opportunity.
