On 15th of March 2024 there was a presentation on the topic of Agro-ecology and the ways ahead by Hanine Abdallah an engineer from Lebanon who runs a NGO named MADA , working to protect the agro-ecology of the farm and soil conservation and fertility enhancement in Lebanon by working with the farmers and educating them about the more sustainable ways of farming

Visit to the Methanisation and micro-algae production unit

We visited the Methanisation Unit near the Campus and there we learnt about the process of methanisation in general along with the equipments and the technologies used and we also witnessed the experimentation going on for the methanisation of various biodegradable organic products including the sheep wool which is undesirable and problematic.After methanisation we headed toward the micro-algae production unit to observe and learn about the technicalities of Micro-algae production which is being cultivated to be used as a manure for the field crops .

At the farm of Mr.Christophe at Rébénacq

Visit to a goat and sheep farm where the farmer Mr. Christophe is processing the milk to make some wonderful cheese out of it, it was a heavily mechanised and automated farm with in barn Driers for the drying of the fodder, trolley and mechanised cranes to move the bundles of straw . The milk yield for the goat is nearly 900 g to 1 kg per day which is considered to be a good output ,along with this the farm have cheese processing unit for the ageing of the cheese and a pack of dogs for the herding of sheep while they are out in the pastures while at dawn the animals return to the sheds
