The Irish Cow

The Irish Cow

Hello, Raphaël's there, today we are on June the 2Oth and we landed at Dublin, the landing was very disturbing I thought my head was going to explode. First when we arrived at the airport, the custom asked me my passeport while saying me "bonjour". The "Bonjour" was very difficult to understand.
We took the road to our house at the North of Cork separating our group in two parts. That's very troubling that in Ireland, compared to France, we drive on the left side of the road. Irish people don't like the speed, the highway is only at 120 km/h.
We finally arrived at our home and went to the bed at 11 o'clock.

Sunday June the 21st

Hi, that's Raphaël again, Today it's June the 21st and we the two groups will finally join each other at Kilkenny. At least I could see my girlfriend again during all daylong. We visited a lot of things : Dunmore's caves, a very beautiful cave full of stunnings rocks, we ate at the oldest restaurant in town.

Monday June the 22sd

Today is my first day of internship, I succeeded to speak English as well as I can. We milked the cows and I discovered how it is going on a cows farm.
Thoses animals are actually really kind.

Tuesday June the 23rd

On the second day of internship, all is going well. That's impressive how cows are slow compared to sheep, you have time to see the landscape.
This internship thanks to Erasmus allows us more experiences and helps us to know what we really wanna do in our job.

Wednesday June the 24th

Today, it look's like everybody is feeling happy,
they are eating correcly. Especially calves because
today they are having a new field full of grass

Thursday June the 25th

On this Thursday, a bit of pre-mowing
so cows could eat the grass better. I saw a
very big rabbit a bit lost when he saw the
moller coming

Friday June the 26th

Today, we washed the calves Jacket, the farm is now ready to the calving.
Also, cows are happy to eat grass freshly pre-mowed.

Saturday June the 27th

  • On this saturday, we went to the Blarney Castle during the morning, it was a bit rainy but it was very beautiful
    • When we were in the castle we kissed the Blarney Stone We visited all the garden around the castle, there were pretty flowers, it was pretty cool.

For lunch we ate at the Oliver Plunkett pub, it tasted really good. During the afternoon, the group visited the Cork citie and saw the Fin's Barre Cathedral

Sunday June the 28th

We went to Kinsale, a so colorfull village, there was the Kinsale's Jame's fort. After the fort we go to the beach, the water was pleasant. The houses were green, purple, blue and many other colors...

On our way back
ton Cork we passed in front of
the Black Rock Castle, a really
beautifull castle, still in a very
good shape.

Monday June the 29th

Today, the weather is rainy and foggy, that's the Irish weather. It looks like the apocalypse.
We did a bit of Fencing but ran out of sticks.

Tuesday June the 30th

This morning started like yesterday, rainy and foggy but the sun came back, a bit shinny. Me and the worker went to the cooperative to buy more sticks and we go on fencing until the lunch.
On the after-noon, we found that a calf escaped from the field, maybe because they doesn't have enough grass, so we will move calves tomorrow.

Wednesday July 1st

Today so, we moved the calves and did a bit of fencing, maybe
tomorow we will finish all about fencing.
On the evening, we had a surprise, our group went to Cobh, the
last city which saw the Titanic before the trajedy. A beautifull
village next to the sea. We ate at Last drop restaurant, it tasted
really good. After we had a very funny time at a Kiosque.

Thursday July 2nd

During this morning, we finally finished fencing job, we can now sleep on our two hears, no cows gonna run out of the fields. On this after noon, a second good new, the sun came back, I was very glad to see that because this rainy Irish weather was becoming so annoying.

Friday July the 3rd

Today.. Last day of the Internship, we did not really know what to do because, we finished fencing yesterday. So we just did the normal job like milking, feeding the calves and bringing cows in the field.

Those two weeks were really good and I had a lot of fun with my internship mentors. They are going to miss me a bit.
Now I'm prepared to go back in France...
