I got lost several times in the city, with or without the tram. But now, I know all the paths around my home and the farm. I also visited the city center on the first weekend. I was looking for a coat against the wind and rain, because I had forgotten mine at home. We did about ten shops before finding something good.

I also found out that I couldn’t even use a bike to go to the farm. You need an internet connection on your phone, and my connection abroad doesn’t work very well. Besides, I can’t park it at the farm.
There is also a big difference between Rotterdam and my home in France: the shops. Here, there aren’t any big supermarkets like Leclerc, for example. I have a Lidl next door to my place, but it’s the size of a supermarket. In reality, all stores are convenience stores. So, when you look for a single product, it’s the supermarket version of Koh-Lanta.

I have a very concrete example: I’m a yogurt fan. But really... three times a day, that’s my whole life! So I was looking for yogurts in packs of 12 individual pots, the standard. Well, no! Here, the norm is huge one-kilogram pots of Greek or Turkish yogurt, with a sour and bitter aftertaste. So just for that, it’s hard to get out of your comfort zone.
