“FRENCH EDUCATIONAL EXPEDITION: SET SAIL ON A VOYAGE OF DISCOVERY AND ENLIGHTENMENT”

Akash and Nisha’s educational journey in Auch was filled with a diverse array of experiences that enriched our understanding of various industries and agricultural practices. Our first stop was a visit to a goat farm, accompanied by Chantal and French students. Here, we had the opportunity to witness first hand the process of cheese production, from milking to packaging. We learned about the different types of cheeses produced and gained insights into the challenges and rewards of goat farming. The subsequent visit to a sheep farm, guided by Stephanie, provided us with further insights into cheese production, as well as a deeper understanding of the intricacies of sheep farming.

Continuing our exploration of agricultural practices, we visited a horse farm where we observed students engaging in horse riding activities. This experience allowed us to appreciate the bond between humans and animals and gain insight into the care and management of horses.

The educational journey extended beyond agriculture as we participated in a beans tasting session at the Technological Hall, where we honed our sensory skills by identifying the texture, aroma, and other characteristics of different bean varieties.

Exploring the landscapes of Auch and Marciac with Natacha, we gained a deeper appreciation for the natural beauty of the region, while also paying a visit to a cemetery, providing us with insight into local customs and history.

Our exploration of the local industry continued with a visit to a winery, where we learned about the production and packaging processes of various wines. This was followed by a visit to The Prolainat firm, where we gained insights into the processing and packaging of ice cream and other confectionery products.
During our exploratory journey, we delved into the fascinating world of food production,with a visit to Natais, a renowned popcorn firm. Here, we were introduced to the intricate process of transforming corn kernels into the beloved snack. From the sorting and cleaning of the corn to the popping and seasoning stages, we gained a comprehensive understanding of the meticulous craftsmanship behind each kernel of popcorn. This eye-opening experience was complemented by a visit to a corn farm, where we witnessed the cultivation and harvesting of the raw ingredient, further connecting the dots between agriculture and food processing.

Our educational odyssey continued with a visit to a meat firm specializing in duck products. Here, we were immersed in the art of duck processing, witnessing the meticulous preparation and packaging of various delicacies, including duck liver and other parts. This hands-on experience provided us with insight into the traditional methods and modern techniques employed in the meat industry, enhancing our appreciation for the culinary diversity of the region. Through these immersive visits, we gained a deeper appreciation for the intricate processes involved in food production, from farm to table, while also broadening their understanding of the local gastronomic landscape.
Our educational journey also included a visit to a crop farm, where we observed leguminous plants and learned about nitrogen fixation and its role in soil fertility. Additionally, we visited iconic landmarks such as the statue of D’Artagnan and the monumental stairs, capturing the essence of Auch’s cultural heritage.

Our engagement with the local community extended to activities such as exploring Auch with Anne, visiting the Tourism Office, and participating in a fun game to discover tourist locations. We also celebrated the festival of Holi at the Beaulieu institution, sharing Indian traditions with French students and professors.

Our educational journey culminated in practical experiences, including cookie preparation with French students, microbiology experimentation on pathogen detection in food, and biochemistry experimentation on sugar analysis in milk.

Finally, we reflected on our experiences in Auch through a radio recording session, delving into both the practical and emotional aspects of their journey, concluding our enriching stay in Auch on a reflective note. As our expedition into educational prospects in France comes to an end, we extend my sincere appreciation for accompanying me on this illuminating voyage.
